Convener of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, Hasnat Abdullah, on Tuesday declared that no educational institution in the country will be allowed to turn into a refuge for crime and terrorism.
Speaking at a protest rally held at the base of the Raju Memorial Sculpture at Dhaka University (DU), Hasnat made this statement in response to the recent attack on students of Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) allegedly by Chhatra Dal.
Following a protest march through key areas of DU campus, Hasnat addressed the demonstrators, stressing the need to safeguard the hard-earned freedom of students and protect academic spaces from violence and oppression.
He urged students to remain vigilant and resist any attempts to turn universities into breeding grounds for political unrest.
“Our struggle is against the Awami League, against the Chhatra League, against the Jubo League—against oppression, persecution, and fascism,” Hasnat stated. “This is a revolution, and there will be no pause between birth and death. Our fight continues.”
The demonstration, led by student activists, highlighted growing concerns over political interference and campus violence. The movement aims to challenge systemic injustices and uphold the principle that universities should be safe environments for education, free from fear and intimidation.
Abdullah’s speech reflected the rising frustration among students as calls for accountability and reform gain momentum nationwide. The rally served as a strong reminder of the collective determination to protect the integrity of educational institutions and defend students’ rights.
