Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have been deployed at Khulna University of Science and Technology (KUET) campus after clashes broke out between two groups of students on Tuesday.

BGB Public Relations Officer Md Shariful Islam said two platoons of BGB members were deployed amid tension on the campus.

Earlier, at least 40 people have been injured in clashes between Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal and the Anti-discrimination Student Movement at KUET over demands to ban student politics on campus.

The situation led to intense chases and counter-chases, creating an atmosphere of unrest.

According to eyewitnesses, a group of students marched around the university dormitories chanted slogans such as "No place for student politics at KUET," "We demand a politics-free campus," and "This campus will not tolerate student politics."

The protest escalated near the central mosque when another group of students confronted them, leading to an altercation. The verbal dispute quickly turned into a physical clash, spreading beyond the campus to the adjacent roads.
