The decision whether local government elections will be held before the national elections, will be announced soon, said Adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuiyan on Tuesday.

Asir, adviser to the ministry of local, government and rural development, said this to reporters while responding to a query after attending DC conference.

"The DCs are having to work overtime due to the lack of public representatives across the country. They are even demanding local government elections as soon as possible to relieve the additional pressure."
Adviser Asif added, "The divisional commissioners, who are present here, are in-charge of some city corporation. The district administrators have to perform the duties of the district council. When an officer performs two or three duties, it becomes difficult for a person to perform all the duties at once."
