Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC) has finalised the draft of the Government Service (Verifying pre-identification of candidate) Rules, 2025.
The new rules have been designed to be candidate-friendly, aiming to prevent the harassment of recommended candidates and to eliminate discrimination.
A press release in this regard confirmed the matter on Monday.
The draft rules clearly outline the circumstances under which a candidate can be deemed unfit for government service, it said.
It has also proposed informing candidates the reasons of declaration as unfit.
Additionally, the proposal includes offering the candidate the opportunity to file appeal for reconsideration.
If desired by the appointing authority, there has been kept a jurisdiction to re-investigate the case of the unsuitable candidate.
In the draft rules, it has been recommended that this would be issued as a rule for all categories of government employees under the Government Service Act-2018.
The release said this rule will be sent to the Ministry of Public Administration for further proceeding, and the ministry will review it. The rule will be applicable for police verification in all government jobs, including BCS.
A final decision has been made regarding the
examination for the position of Deputy Assistant Engineer in the
Railways. The examination will be conducted in three phases- preliminary
test, written and viva voce, it added.
Furthermore, the commission has agreed in principle to amend the Non-Cadre Rules-2023 and a final decision to this end to be made in the next meeting.
