Journalist Masuma dies after 4-day of battle for life

Masuma Akter, a journalist for Ekhon TV in Rajshahi, succumbed to her injuries early Tuesday after four days' of battle for life.

Earlier, she was injured in a road accident in Cumilla.
She breathed her last at 4:15AM while on life support for the last four days.

Rakibul Hasan Rajib, senior reporter at Ekhon TV's Rajshahi bureau, said Masuma was traveling to her in-laws' house in Cumilla with her husband on February 14 when the accident occurred. After getting off a bus in Cumilla, they were negotiating fares with CNG-run auto-rickshaw drivers and at that moment, a speeding bus hit them, leaving both severely injured on the road.

Locals rushed them to a nearby hospital. Masuma suffered a severe head injury and was taken to the ICU at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH). Later, she was transferred to Pro-Active Medical Care in Dhaka, where she was placed on life support.

Masuma graduated with a degree in Mass Communication and Journalism from North Bengal International University, Rajshahi, and began her journalism career in 2014. She joined Ekhon TV's Rajshahi bureau on December 26, 2023.
