Couple killed being hit by truck in city's Uttara

A youth and his wife died after being hit by a speeding truck in the capital's Uttara early Tuesday.

The accident occurred around 1:30 am in front of BNS Center near Uttara Purba Police Station.
The dead have been identified as Abdur Rahman Rabbi, 22, son of Abdur Rab, a resident of Auchpara Muktar Bari area in Tongi, Gazipur, and his wife Kalima Akram Mim, 20.

According to locals, around 10 pm, the two were hit by a speeding truck when they were approaching BNS Center in riding on a motorcycle. They were later rescued in critical condition and rushed to the emergency department at Dhaka Medical College (DMCH) where Mim was declared dead by the doctors at 3:30 am and Rabbi around 7 am on Tuesday (February 18).

DMCH Police Camp In-charge Inspector Md. Faruk confirmed the matter.
