The joint forces have arrested 529 more individuals across the country as part of the ongoing 'Operation Devil Hunt' in the last 24 hours until Monday afternoon.
Enamul Haque Sagar, Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of the Police Headquarters' Media and Public Relations Department, confirmed the arrests on Monday. He stated, "A total of 1,503 people have been arrested since last night for 'Operation Devil Hunt' and other crimes. Of these, 529 were arrested in Operation Devil Hunt and 974 were arrested in other cases and warrants."
During the operation, law enforcers recovered a foreign pistol, a locally made shooter gun, a pistol bullet casing, a red-colored fresh lead cartridge, two cartridge casings, a match, two ramdas, and various types of sharp weapons.
The operation follows a violent incident on February 7, when vested groups attacked students and the public in Gazipur. Allegedly led by Awami League leaders and activists under the ousted dictator Sheikh Hasina, the attack resulted in several casualties and a deteriorating law and order situation.
