5 killed, 10 others injured in Feni road accident

FENI, Feb 17: At least five people were killed and 10 others injured as a covered van hit a pickup van on the Dhaka-Chattogram Highway in Feni Sadar upazila on Monday night.

A highway police officer said some 14 to 15 construction workers boarding the pickup van were going to Dhaka from Chattogram, but details of their identities could not be known immediately.

Confirming the news of casualties, Mohipur highway police station Officer-in-Charge Harunur Rashid said the incident took place in the Hafezia area where the covered van driver lost control over steering and rammed the pickup van from behind.
Five people died on the spot while the injured were sent to Feni General Hospital, he added.

Traffic on the busy highway remained disrupted until the police cleared the accident-damaged vehicles.
