Police headquarters has withdrawn four superintendents of police, or SPs, of Cox’s Bazar, Jashore, Nilphamari, and Sunamganj and instructed them to report to head quarter in Dhaka within a day.
Separate notifications were issued signed by Kazi Md Fazlul Karim, DIG of police HQ, on Monday.
Officials said such an order effectively means their withdrawal from their current postings.
Enamul Haque Sagar, a spokesperson for the police Headquarters, said: “The four officers have been asked to report to Headquarters. They must report by Tuesday.”
The officers in question are Cox’s Bazar SP Muhammad Rahmat Ullah, Jashore SP Md Ziauddin Ahmed, Nilphamari SP Mohammad Morshed Alam, and Sunamganj SP AFM Anwar Hossain Khan.
The letter, titled Directive to Report to Police Headquarters, said:
“Hand over your responsibilities to the next senior officer and report to the Police Headquarters in Dhaka on Feb 18. This order has been issued as per the instructions of the appropriate authority.”
