Police have arrested seven alleged active members of body snatching and kidnapping gang in Narayanganj.
The arrested are Leon, Borhan Imran alias Picchi, Shaon Bepari, Mst Parvin Begum, Shahin Molla, Mohammad Ali and Md Al Amin Sarder.
According to police sources they are involved in killing, kidnapping and disappearing bodies for a long time.
Narayanganj River Police arrested them from different places of the district.
Kanchpur River Police Post officer-in-charge Abdul Mabud confirmed the detentions on Monday afternoon.
Police sources said that an unknown youth’s body was recovered on Shitalakshya River bank adjacent to Siddhirganj Sailo Ghat in the district on January 16. Later, the victim’s body was identified through mass media and his family members filed a case with Siddhirganj Police Station on February 5.
Narayanganj River Police Superintendent Md Alamgir Hosain stated that police teams conducted several drives to arrest the accused of the murder case.
During the drives, police arrested the accused and also recovered snatched battery-run auto-rickshaw, mobile phones, anaesthetic drugs and cash Tk 25 thousand from their possessions.
