In a significant move, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President held a crucial meeting with former captains to discuss the state of Bangladesh cricket. Former Captains of the Bangladesh Cricket Team shared their valuable insights with the BCB President Faruque Ahmed at BCB office on Monday.

Among those invited were Shafiqul Haque Hira, Rakibul Hasan, Gazi Ashraf Hossain Lipu, Minhajul Abedin Nannu, Habibul Bashar, Rajin Saleh, Shahriar Nafees, Akram Khan, Khaled Masud Pilot, Mohammad Ashraful, Khaled Mahmud Sujan, Mominul Haque and Liton Das.

However, Shakib Al Hasan, who is currently out of the country, was unable to attend. More significantly, Mashrafe Bin Mortaza and Naimur Rahman Durjoy were not invited. Shakib, Mashrafe and Durjoy have been involved in politics under the Awami League banner, a factor that might have influenced their exclusion.

Former captain Rakibul Hasan missed the meeting due to family commitments at his village home, while Shafiqul Haque Hira was also outside Dhaka. Additionally, Tamim Iqbal, Khaled Mahmud Sujan and Khaled Masud Pilot were unable to participate due to other engagements.

Despite these absences, the discussion was extensive. Former captains shared their insights on the current state of Bangladesh cricket offering perspectives rooted in their leadership experiences.

Mominul Haque and Liton Das, two captains from the current generation, also voiced their thoughts providing a contemporary outlook on the challenges and opportunities facing the team.

The meeting saw an open exchange of ideas, with participants engaging in a deep discussion about the direction of Bangladesh cricket.
