A young man was electrocuted in Bagerhat's Fakirhat upazila on Monday afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Takrim Sheikh, 20, son of Moslem Uddin Sheikh, a resident of Lokhpur village in the upazila.

Confirming the matter, Fakirhat Model Police Station officer-in-charge SM Alamgir Hossain said that Takrim came in contact with an electric wire in the afternoon while he was repairing an electric line at his home, leaving him critically injured.

Later, family members rescued him from the spot and took him to Khulna Medical College Hospital for treatment where on-duty doctors declared him dead upon arrival, the OC said, adding that they were looking into the matter.
