Four teachers of different departments of Rajshahi University (RU) have been punished for different terms in connection with various allegations brought against them.
A press release, sent from RU Public Relations Office, confirmed the matter on Sunday night.
The teachers are Applied Chemistry and Chemical Engineering department Associate Professor Aneek Krishna Karmakar, Applied Mathematics department Professors Dr Abdul Haque, Dr Ali Akbar and Dr Ashrafuzzaman Khan.
According to the press release, Aneek Krishna Karmakar was suspended from the university temporarily while Abdul Haque, Ali Akabar and Ashrafuzzaman Khan were suspended from all examinations related activities for five years.
They were punished as the probe bodies, formed against them, submitted their reports to the university administration recently.
An enquiry committee has also been formed against Aneek Krishna Karmakar and Law department Associate Professor Sadiqul Islam Sagar to give them final punishment as per Section 55 (3) of the University Act, 1973.
The previous decision of temporary suspension against Sadiqul Islam Sagar has been upheld in view of the investigation report on the charge of sexual harassment and rape.
Another press release sent by RU Public Relations Office stated that the university administration cancelled the decision took against Applied Mathematics department’s retired Professor Dr M Shamsul Alam Sarkar at the university’s 41st syndicate meeting.
