Shakira has been forced to cancel her concert in Lima, Peru, on Sunday after being hospitalized with abdominal pain, just days after launching her first worldwide tour in seven years. The 48-year-old Colombian singer shared on social media that she went to the emergency room on Saturday night and is currently under medical care.
"The doctors whose care I am currently under have communicated that I am not in good enough condition to perform this evening," Shakira wrote. She expressed her sadness at not being able to perform, stating, "I've been looking forward to reuniting with my incredible fans here in Peru," and hoped to be released from the hospital by Monday to continue her tour.
Shakira began her tour in Rio de Janeiro shortly after receiving a Grammy for Best Latin Pop Album, which she dedicated to migrants facing deportation in the U.S. under President Donald Trump.
The singer is scheduled to perform nearly 50 shows across Latin America by the end of June, followed by additional performances in the U.S. and Canada.
