A man and his son were killed and three others injured when a bus hit a van at Nazirpur upazila in Pirojpur district on Monday.
The accident took place in the morning at Ruhitlabunia on the Pirojpur-Dhaka highway in the upazila.
The dead were identified as Mahabub Molla, 45, a resident of Chalitabari village under Nazirpur upazila of the district, and his son Yat Molla, 15.
Locals said a Dhaka-bound bus belonging to 'Imad Paribahan' lost control and hit an auto-van from behind. Three people of the van and two others were seriously injured. Locals rescued them and sent them to the upazila health complex. The two were taken to Khulna Medical College for advanced treatment where they died.
Nazirpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mahmud Al Farid Bhuiyan confirmed the matter.
Nazirpur Upazila Health Complex Health and Family Planning Officer Dr. Mashiur Rahman said that the condition of the three injured is also critical. They were sent to Khulna for better treatment.
