Fisheries and Livestock Adviser Farida Akhter said on Monday that the government has taken an initiative to sell milk, eggs and meat at affordable prices throughout the month of Ramadan at 25 points of the capital.
She disclosed this during a briefing to reporters at her office on Monday.
Liquid milk will be sold at Tk 80 per litre, beef at Tk 650 per kg, dressed broiler at Tk 250 per kg and eggs at Tk 114 in mobile trucks.
The 25 sale centres are: beside the Secretariat (Abdul Gani Road), Natun Bazar (Badda), Korail slum (Banani), Khamarbari (Farmgate), Azimpur Matrisadan (Azimpur), Gabtoli, Mohammadpur, Shatfoot Road (Mirpur), Segun Bagicha (kitchen market), Arambagh (Motijheel), Rampura, Kalshi (Mirpur), Jatrabari (at the mouth of Maniknagar Goli), Bosila (Mohammadpur), Hazaribagh (Shikshan), Lukas (Nakhalpara), Arambagh (Motijheel), Kamrangirchar, Mirpur 10, Kalyanpur (Jhilpara), Tejgaon, Old Dhaka (Bangabazar), and Kakrail.
The programme will be inaugurated on February 28 at south Baridhara residential area around 10AM, adviser Farida Akhter added.
Each day during Ramadan, approximately 60,000 eggs, 6,000 litres of milk, and 2,000-2,500 kg of dressed broiler meat will be sold through the mobile trucks.
