Food and Land Adviser Ali Imam Majumder has said that a total of 300,000 tons of rice will be provided in March and April under food-friendly programme ahead of Ramadan.
"Under this programme, around 50 lakh families will get 15kg of rice at Tk 30 per kg."
Majumder said this to reporters after the first session on the second day of the three-day District Commissioners (DCs) conference.
"A large amount of food grains will be distributed at a very affordable prices and in some cases free of cost during the Ramadan. The DCs have been instructed to conduct the program in an orderly manner."
Adviser Majumder added, "One crore families will get 10 kg of rice in free of cost during Eid time."
He further said that the chief adviser is committed to making land management across the country digital. Currently, survey work is being conducted with drones, and the government is utilising modern technologies.
In response to a question about whether the pending applications for e-namzaari will be processed before March 10, Majumder informed that it is an ongoing process, with applications being continuously received. He expressed optimism that the system would be functional before March 10.
