With the ICC Champions Trophy approaching, Bangladesh enters with limited preparation having not played an ODI since December 12 last year. So, their warm-up against Pakistan Shaheens at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Monday is a crucial test before the main event.

Despite the lack of recent ODI action, Bangladesh's cricketers have been engaged in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) albeit in a different format. The shift from T20 to ODIs necessitates swift adaptation and the upcoming practice match will offer valuable insights into the team's preparedness.

The Tigers arrived in Dubai and resumed training after a day's rest. Pacer Tanzim Hasan Sakib, speaking in a video message during the session, emphasized the significance of the warm-up fixture. "We will prepare for the main match from the warm-up match. We will try to get as much information as possible about the wicket. We will try to understand what kind of ball works well here and what lengths cause trouble for the batsmen," he stated.

Sakib was pleased with the team's first practice session in Dubai and said, "The first practice session went very well. We did the gym, then the net session went well. Batting, bowling and fielding - we practiced all the departments. It feels very good.

How it feels, that is important. Overall, the feeling after today's practice is very good."

Bangladesh's Champions Trophy campaign kicks off with a high-profile clash against India on February 20 in Dubai. The team will then travel to Pakistan, where they face New Zealand on February 24 and hosts Pakistan on February 27, both in Rawalpindi. With a demanding schedule ahead, the Tigers will be eager to fine-tune their strategies and address any weaknesses before taking on the tournament's elite teams.
