SM Tanvir Arafat, former Superintendent of Police (SP), has been suspended by the government of Sylhet Range DIG Office (Ex SP of Kushtia).
The Public Security Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs issued a gazette notification in this regard, signed by Senior Secretary Nasimul Gani on February 14.
According to the notification, he has been suspended from government service in the public interest as per the provisions of section 57 of the Public Service Act, 2018.
“During his suspension, Arafat will be attached to the Range DIG Office, Sylhet and will receive subsistence allowance as per rules,” it said.
Earlier, on December 26, 2024 Arafat was arrested from Sylhet DIG Office -- in connection with case no.28 on September 9, 2024 filed with Kushtia Sadar Police Station -- and produced before the court on the same day.
Denying SP Tanvir Arafat’s bail, the court sent him to jail.
