Nagorik Committee Chief Organiser Sarjis Alam has said that extortion and syndicates were in the past and still exist in Bangladesh. We have to work together to stop these practices.
He said these while addressing at a seminar held at Sonargaon Royal Resort organized by National Nagorik Committee and Anti-Discrimination Student Movement on Sunday afternoon.
Sarjis Alam said, "The situation of encroachment in various areas of Sonargaon's industrial city remains the same as it was. From various plots to the division of money, it has not decreased, but rather, it has increased. It must be remembered that during the struggle for revolution, we were not even 500 people on the streets on June 5-6. However, on August 5, 50 million people took to the streets across Bangladesh. For this, time is needed, and we must stay on the streets with courage."
He said, "Our political party is coming in February. We have many hopes and aspirations. We have newly seen practices which were followed in the past16 years. We strong believe that those who have been involved in these practises, it is deeply ingrained in their blood. To break away from those practices, leadership must come from those who led this revolution."
He also said that we should be aware of those who were abroad during the Awami League regime and are now trying to become leaders
