A human chain was formed at Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST) campus demanding integration of Jhenaidah Government Veterinary College staff at the campus on Sunday.

The event took place at main gate of the campus, organized by faculty members, officials, staff, and students of Jhenaidah Government Veterinary College.

The speakers at the event included Dr. Tarek Musa, Dr. Rakibul Hasan Shaon, student Mahadi Murtaza, project staff Sohel, Toffazzel Hossain Saha, Kawser, and Jontu Member, among others.

The speakers highlighted that Jhenaidah Government Veterinary College was incorporated as the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine under Jessore University of Science and Technology in 2023.

Following this, the Bangladesh University Grants Commission (UGC) recommended the integration of the college’s staff into the university's faculty. The recommendation was also endorsed in meetings between the UGC and inter-ministerial bodies.

However, no significant steps have been taken by the university authorities, leading to the non-payment of salaries for more than fifty staff members. As a result, they are facing severe financial hardships.

The speakers demanded the immediate integration of the faculty, officials, and staff of the Jhenaidah Government Veterinary College into the faculty of Veterinary Medicine at JUST campus.
