A Bikash agent and pharmacy shop owner was reportedly killed by robbers when he tried to stop them from taking money from his shop on Saturday in Dhaka city.
The incident occurred at around 11:00 AM in the Kaula Shialdanga area under Dakshinkhan area in the city.
At that time, locals caught one robber and beat him indiscriminately.
The deceased was identified as Sumon Kumar Paul, 40, who hailed from Patuakhali district. He used to live in the Shialdanga area under Dakshinkhan Kaula area in the city.
Eyewitnesses said that Sumon ran a pharmacy along with his Bikash agent services. Some miscreants went to his shop and snatched money. During the robbery, Sumon was hit by the miscreants with heavy objects behind his head, leaving him critically injured.
One robber was caught and beaten by the local people as they were leaving the scene.
The robber was later handed over to the police.
At that time, some people went to Sumon's house and found him unconscious.
He was rescued and taken to a hospital where the on-duty doctors declared him dead.
Tariqul Islam, assistant police commissioner of Dakshinkhan zone in Dhaka, said that they were working on the case.
