Rising suicide rate alarming

Dear Sir,

There is a growing concern about the increasing number of suicide cases in Bangladesh, with research showing that an average of 29 people take their own lives every day. The primary reasons behind this tragic phenomenon are loneliness, frustration, and failure. While failure and frustration are inevitable parts of life, it is crucial to understand that suicide should never be considered a solution to these challenges.

The tendency to commit suicide is often seen in individuals who have lacked emotional resilience and self-control from childhood. During the Corona period, over 14,000 people committed suicide in just one year. According to the Institute of Mental Health, around 10,000 suicides occur annually in Bangladesh. This alarming statistic highlights the urgent need for action.

Of particular concern is the rise in student suicides. Education is the foundation of a nation, and if students are overwhelmed by despair, the future of the country is at risk. It is essential to raise awareness about mental health, strengthen emotional support systems, and encourage open conversations about well-being.

Life is valuable, and adversity should be faced with courage and resilience. Suicide is never a solution, and it is vital for society to come together to prevent these tragedies.
