Human chain formed in Barishal demanding to reveal secret prisons

A human chain has been formed in Barishal demanding to press home a six point demand, including revealing the country's Aynaghars, the secret prisons.

A group of people, under the banner of Voice in Forced Disappeared Persons (VOED), gathered and formed the human chain in front of Ashwini Kumar Hall in the city on Saturday afternoon.

The victims, who went missing during the dictatorship of the ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, spoke in the human chain sharing their views regarding the Aynaghar.

Rezaul Karim, who went missing from Dhaka's Notun Bazar in 2018, alleged that he had been taken away and disappeared by the law enforcers during the AL regime following a Facebook post shared by his friend.

Later, he was shown arrested by posing him as a militant after being kept missing for 13 days. He called on the interim-government to ensure that no other dictatorship in the country could play the Aynaghar and disappearance drama.

Kaium Hawlader, a victim of disappearance, said that he had been kept in hiding for 4 months, as he had not agreed to be a witness in a false case.

Among others, VOED coordinator Imran Hossain, Abdul Kaium, and Al Amin also spoke in the human chain.

Their six point demands included an end to future disappearances and state repression, justice for disappearances, and the release of victims from false cases.
