11 faculty members of Rajshahi University (RU) have been summoned by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) for questioning in connection with an investigation into corruption.

The summoned teachers are scheduled to appear before the ACC on February 16-17, 2025, at various times.

The teachers summoned include ATM Sahed Parvez, Sanjana Sobhan, Professor Anand Kumar Saha, Saju Sardar, Md. Julhas Hossain, Noor Nusrat Sultana, Md. Salauddin, Shibli Islam, Professor Gazi Touhidur Rahman, Professor Abdul Majid, and Professor Abdul Latif.

The summons was issued in a notice signed by ACC Assistant Director Khorshed Alam on Wednesday.

The notice reveals that former RU Vice Chancellor (VC) Professor Dr. Md Abdus Sobhan, allegedly embezzled a substantial amount of government funds through various irregularities and corrupt practices while misusing his power.

The notice further states that he violated the Education Ministry's directive by appointing 138 teachers and staff members in contravention of regulations.

In relation to these allegations, ACC has formed a three-member probe body led by Deputy Director Md Saiduzzaman, with Afnan Jannat Keya and Md Abdullah Al Mamun as members.

The teachers have been summoned to provide their statements for the investigation.
