'Ami Banglay Gaan Gai' singer Pratul Mukhopadhyay no more

Veteran singer and lyricist Pratul Mukhopadhyay passed away on Saturday at the age of 83.

The artist had been suffering from old age complications for a long time and had been undergoing treatment at SSKM Hospital in Kolkata.
He breathed his last at the hospital in the morning, indian media Anandabazar confirmed.

According to the hospital sources, Pratul Mukhopadhyay suffered a heart attack after undergoing surgery and his condition worsened rapidly. A medical board has been formed for him. He developed antibiotic-resistant infections and pneumonia.

Born on June 25, 1942 in Barishal, which was part of British-ruled India at the time, Pratul Mukhopadhyay later moved to West Bengal. From a young age, he set his lyrics to music, creating many memorable songs.
