Israel will release 369 Palestinian detainees in exchange for three Israeli hostages held by Hamas in the first phase of the Gaza ceasefire and the prisoner swap on Saturday.
This was confirmed by separate statements from Hamas military wing, the Al-Qassam Brigades, and the Palestinian Prisoners’ Media Office, an organization supporting Palestinian detainees.
The statement from the Prisoners' Media Office revealed that among the detainees waiting for release, 333 are residents of Gaza. These individuals had been arrested at various times after Israel's military operations in Gaza began in October 2023. The remaining 36 detainees are serving life sentences.
In exchange for these 369 Palestinian prisoners, Hamas will free three Israeli hostages.
The names of the hostages were sent to the Israeli government by Hamas on Friday. The three hostages are Sasha Troufanov, Sagui Dekel-Shen, and Aya Horn.
Hazem Qassem, spokesperson for the Al-Qassam Brigades, told Turkey's state-run Anadolu Agency that the release process would proceed "according to proper procedures," reflecting the "culture and Islamic teachings" of Palestine.
