Eleven people, including children, sustained burn injuries from fire caused by a gas cylinder explosion at a house in Savar's Ashulia on Friday night.
The incident happened around 10PM.
Injured-- Sumon Miah, 30, Surjo Banu, 55, Johura Begum, 70, Md Monir Hossain, 43, Sohel, 38, Shiuli Akter, 25, Sharmin, 25, Samin Mahmud, 15,Mahadi, 7, Suraha, 3, Soayed, 4--were first admitted to a local hospital, but, later referred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH). Three of them are in critical condition.
According to the eyewitnesses, Sumon's mother and his brother Sohel came to Sumon's house with family from village home. Around 10PM, when the family members were cooking, suddenly, the gas cylinder exploded and the fire spread to the whole house, leaving the 11 members injured.
Harun-or-Rashid, manager (operation) of Women and Children Hospital, said the 11 burnt people left the hospital receiving first aid. They were referred to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital's burn unit.
