Couples around the world are celebrating Valentine's Day on Friday. As the final and most significant day of the week-long Valentine’s celebrations, they exchange gifts and express their love on this special occasion.

Over time, Valentine's Day has become a globally recognized festival. People believe the day originated in memory of Saint Valentine, who sacrificed his life for love and marriage. They observe this day every year on February 14 to honor his dedication.

During the third century, Roman ruler Claudius believed marriage weakened men's strength and intelligence. He enforced a strict ban on marriage for officers and soldiers, declaring that they could no longer marry. However, Saint Valentine strongly opposed his decree and secretly officiated the marriages of many soldiers and officers.

Enraged by Valentine's defiance, Claudius ordered his execution on February 14, 269 AD. Before his death, Saint Valentine wrote a love letter to his jailer's blind daughter and signed it "From Your Valentine." He sent her flowers as a token of affection and told the jailer to donate his eyes to his daughter after his death. To honor his sacrifice and dedication to love, people began celebrating Valentine's Day.
People consider this day a time to express love, make commitments, and deepen romantic relationships.

On this occasion, couples exchange gifts such as flowers, cards, and chocolates. The younger generation, in particular, sees this day as an opportunity to confess love and strengthen relationships.
In recent years, Valentine's Day has expanded into a week-long celebration. It begins on February 7 with Rose Day, followed by Propose Day on the 8th, Chocolate Day on the 9th, Teddy Day on the 10th, Promise Day on the 11th, Kiss Day on the 12th, Hug Day on the 13th, and concludes with Valentine's Day on the 14th.
