The Directorate of Primary Education on Thursday filed an appeal with the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court for staying the High Court verdict that cancelled the recruitment of 6,531 candidates who were finally selected in the third phase for assistant teacher positions in government primary schools in Dhaka and Chattogram divisions.
The chamber court of the Appellate Division is likely to hold hearing on the appeal, lawyers concerned said.
On February 6, the High Court cancelled the recruitment of 6,531 candidates who had been selected in the final results of the third phase for assistant teacher positions in government primary schools in the Dhaka and Chattogram divisions.
In a verdict, the HC bench comprising Justice Fatema Najib and Justice Shikdar Mahmudur Razi ordered a fresh recruitment based on merit.
The final results for the third phase of recruitment for assistant teachers in government primary schools, excluding the three hill districts, were published on October 31 last year. The results, published on the website of the Directorate of Primary Education, listed 6,531 successful candidates.
Later, following a hearing on a writ petition, the High Court on November 19 last year suspended the recruitment process of the 6,531 candidates for six months.
