RSGT Bangladesh invests $30mn for advanced STS cranes purchase

RSGT Bangladesh, the country's first privately owned container terminal, announced a further significant investment in its terminal infrastructure.

Following the recent acquisition of 14 Rubber-Tyred Gantry Cranes (RTGs) for USD 26 million, RSGT Bangladesh is investing approximately USD 30 million in four state-of-the-art Ship-to-Shore (STS) Cranes purchase, says a press release.

The new STS cranes, procured from SANY Marine Heavy Industry and equipped with the latest technological innovations, enable RSGT Bangladesh to efficiently handle the largest vessels calling at the Port of Chittagong.

Their deployment in early 2026 will increase RSGT Bangladesh's annual container handling capacity from 250,000 TEUs to 600,000 TEUs, significantly improving operational efficiency and reducing logistics costs.

Signing ceremony was held at Sany Industrial Park, Gaolangang Economic Development Zone, Zhuhai, Guangdong, China recently.

Han -Head of Technical Project Management (RSGT Jeddah), Erwin Haaze - CEO, RSGT Chittagong, Sany General Manager Chen Jing, Tang Weibin GM of Overseas Sales Dept, Lv Guozhen Vice Dean of R&D, Tong Lichao Deputy GM of MENA are present there.

"Following the recent acquisition of 14 RTGs, the investment in these new STS cranes marks another important step in our ongoing efforts to enhance terminal operations in Bangladesh.

This upgrade is expected to improve efficiency further and contribute to a more cost-effective supply chain for Bangladeshi trade," stated RSGT Bangladesh CEO Erwin Haaze. He added, "We are happy with the progress made at the Chittagong facility and its successful development.

To ensure alignment and efficiency, we continue to work closely with CPA and key stakeholders, including the Ministry of Shipping, the NBR, Customs, and industry associations.

As the country's first private terminal, we are committed to advancing Bangladesh's maritime and logistics infrastructure.
