BNP leader among 40 injured in Sirajganj clash

At 40 people including a BNP leader were injured in a clash between two groups of villagers' over constructing a building under sadar upazila in Sirajganj on Thursday.

One of the injured was identified as Saidur Rahman Bachchu, the general secretary of Sirajganj district BNP.

According to locals, two groups of young men locked into an altercation over constructing a building at Milonmoar area in the upazila .

The members of the district Anti-Discrimination Student Movement and Saidur Rahman rushed to the spot and tried to bring the situation under control.

They, at one stage, swooped on each other with lethal weapons, leaving Bachchu and 39 others injured on the spot.

Locals rescued the injured and took them to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Being informed, RAB, Police and Army personnel went to the spot and brought the situation under control, said Sirajganj Sadar Police Station officer-in-charge Humayun Kabir.

Additional police personnel were deployed in the area to avert any kind of unexpected situation, the OC added.
