A Dhaka court has issued a travel ban on former social welfare minister Nuruzzaman Ahmed and his wife, Mosammat Hosne Ara Begum, following a petition by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

ACC Deputy Assistant Director Zakir Hossain filed the petition seeking the ban, while ACC prosecutor Md. Ruhul Islam Khan presented arguments before the court.

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md. Zakir Hossain Galib granted the petition after a hearing on Thursday.

According to the ACC petition file, the couple is under investigation for acquiring wealth beyond known sources of income. The travel restriction will remain in place until the investigation is complete.

ACC also filed three separate graft cases against Nuruzzaman Ahmed, his wife, and their son, Rakibuzzaman on February 3, 2025.
