Two men were murdered in separate incidents in two districts - Dinajpur and Kushtia.
KAHAROLE, DINAJPUR: A man was beaten to death by his nephew following an altercation over cutting a tree in Kaharole Upazila of the district on Tuesday afternoon.
The incident took place in Jotmukundapur Village under Dabor Union of the upazila at around 4:30 pm.
The deceased was identified as Abdul Jabbar, 48, a resident of the same village.
According to locals, Jabbar had an altercation with his nephew Wadud Ali in the afternoon following an altercation over cutting a tree on a disputed land. At one stage, Wadud started beating up his uncle, leaving him seriously injured.
Later on, the family members rescued Abdul Jabbar and took to Bochaganj Upazila Health Complex, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Being informed, police recovered the body and sent it to Dinajpur Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
However, the deceased's son Md Reza Hossain Palash filed a murder case with Kaharole Police Station (PS) accusing two persons.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kaharole PS Md Ruhul Amin confirmed the incident, adding that legal action would be taken in this connection.
DAULATPUR, KUSHTIA: A young man was shot to death by miscreants in Daulatpur Upazila of the district on Tuesday.
The incident took place on the bank of the Padma River in Maricha Union of the upazila at around 12 am.
The deceased was identified as Raju, 20, son of Ibrahim Pramanik, a resident of Farakpur Vangapara Village under the union.
However, police arrested one Sajib in connection with the incident.
According to the deceased's family sources, accused Sajib called Raju out of the house at early hours. Later on, Raju was found dead.
Being informed, police recovered the body from the scene and sent it to Kushtia General Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
Daulatpur PS OC Nazmul Huda confirmed the incident, adding that the law enforcers are investigating the matter and legal action would be taken in this regard.
