Police disperse protesters at Shahbagh using water cannons

Police have dispersed protesters from Shahbagh intersection by charging batons and using water cannons.

The law enforcers took the action around 2:30PM on Thursday.

So far, 13 protesters were arrested from the scene, according the law enforcement agency sources.
Demanding appointment of 6,531 assistant teachers in government primary schools, several hundred protesters started sit-in to the street around 10AM and chanted slogans in favour of their demands.
Vehicular movement on the busy road remained disrupted as one-third of the road was partially blocked due to the sit-in causing immense suffering to the commuters.
Some female teachers were seen taking shelter near the National Museum.
