Police early Wednesday arrested afake coordinator of Anti-Discrimination Student Movement in connection with the attack on an Assistant Commissioner (Land) while operating a mobile court in Habiganj district.
Farhad alias Rumi, was arrested from the house of his residence at Shayestaganj Notun bridge area of Chunarughat upazila in the district around 5:00 AM.
He acquainted himself as a coordinator of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.
A joint force team led by Captain Arafi Tajwar Amin of Shahjibazar Army Camp (13 East Bengal Regiment), acting on a tip off, conducted a drive in the area and arrested him, said Chunarughat Police Station officer-in-charge Nur Alam.
The army handed him over to a court in a case filed by Babul Miah, the OC added.
Earlier, Farhad alias Rumi introduced himself as the coordinator and misbehaved with the Assistant Commissioner (Land) Mahbub Alam Mahbub while conducting an eviction drive in the area following a court order.
He, at one stage, tried to attack Mahbub with a stick during the drive.
Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Mahbub Alam Mahbub said that Farhad occupied approximately 20 feet of the road in the Khas Khatian of Ubahata Mouza and built shops and houses.
When the eviction drive was launched following the order, Farhad tried to attack him, he added.
