A recent investigation by the fact-checking organization, Rumor Scanner, has revealed that a video circulating on social media, which depicts an armed robbery, is being falsely identified as an incident in Bangladesh.

The video shows masked robbers armed with weapons at a petrol pump. It has been shared with the misleading caption: “Openly carrying arms in hand. Look at the so-called students and the devils supported by the illegally occupying government! No one is safe in this country in the day or at night!”
Upon investigation, Rumor Scanner confirmed that the video is not from Bangladesh, but rather from an armed robbery incident in Bihar, India. A search of the video led to a February 7 post by the X account *Hate Detector*, which included the same footage from a different angle. The post specifically stated that the incident took place in Bihar.

Further confirmation came from Indian media outlets. NDTV reported that the footage was from Bihar, and a report by Free Press Journal provided details of the robbery. According to the report, the incident occurred on February 5 at the Puja Petrol Pump in the Tiri area of Baijnathpur police station, Saharsa, Bihar. Four armed robbers stole ₹21,000 and threatened to shoot before fleeing, reports BSS.

This misinformation, which falsely attributes the robbery to Bangladesh, highlights the spread of misleading content online.
