With price increases for the majority of business shares, trading at the Dhaka and Chattogram stock exchanges got off to a good start on Wednesday.
The benchmark index, the DSEX, increased by 11 points at the start of trade on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE). The blue-chip DS30 index climbed one point, while the Shariah-based DSES index rose two points.
During the early session, 197 companies saw their stock prices rise, while 106 experienced declines, and 77 remained unchanged. In the first hour of trading, over Tk 120 crore worth of shares and units were exchanged on the DSE.
Similarly, the Chattogram Stock Exchange (CSE) opened on a positive note, with its overall index climbing by 3 points. Out of 99 companies traded, 31 saw price increases, 51 faced declines, and 17 remained unchanged. The total value of shares and units traded at the start of the session exceeded Tk 4 crore.
