In an ongoing operation against illegal immigrants, Malaysia's Immigration Police have arrested 37 individuals, including Bangladeshis, for violating immigration laws.
The arrests were made during a raid conducted on Tuesday night.
According to a press release signed by Immigration Department of Malaysia (JIM) Director General Datuk Jakaria Shaban on Wednesday, the raid took place at an apartment in Pangsapuri Toimur under Serdang area in Selangor state, where authorities managed to apprehend 37 illegal immigrants.
A total of 82 individuals from various nationalities were questioned during the operation, and 37 individuals were arrested on charges ranging from not possessing identification cards to overstaying their visas and other violations of Malaysia's Immigration Act of 1959/63 and Immigration Regulations of 1963.
The arrested individuals included citizens from Bangladesh, Myanmar, Indonesia, and Pakistan, though the exact number of detained Bangladeshis remains unclear.
