Dhaka Cyber Tribunal Judge Noor-e-Alam could not sit in the court on Sunday amid protest of lawyers over non-granting of bail to an accused.
Lawyers protested in front of the Dhaka Cyber Tribunal from 10:30am to 11:00am demanding the removal of the judge, during this time, the judge stayed in his chamber.
Assistant Public Prosecutor of the concerned tribunal Md Miraj Uddin Sikder said the lawyers present for the accused expressed their anger towards the judge after rejection of the bail prayer of an accused on last Thursday at noon, at that time, the judge left the court and went to his chamber and on that day he did not enter the court room to avoid an embarrassing situation.
Shamsuzzaman Dipu, the lawyer for the accused, said, "Lawyers are angry with the judge's behaviour. That is why they are demanding his removal. The president and general secretary of the Dhaka Bar Association are aware of this. The lawyers have boycotted the Cyber Tribunal with their consent."
Jewel Rana, Bench Officer of the concerned tribunal said, "An arrest warrant was issued against the accused. The testimony in the case was held in his absence. A few days ago, the accused surrendered to the court and sought bail, but his bail was not granted and he was sent to jail.
