On the topic of forming a new student led political party, Senior Nayebe Ameer Mufti Syed Muhammad Faizui Karim of Islami Andolan Bangladesh told the Daily Observer, "Ziaur Rahman formed BNP while in government. Ershad formed the Jatiya Party while running a government, so what is wrong with students forming a political party? They can form a party. There are precedents for this. Where is the problem in that?"

Professor Rubayet Ferdous of the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism at Dhaka University said, "I applaud the students' decision to form a new party. However, if this party is formed during the Interim Government, people of the country will take it differently because it is being formed by members of a non-partisan government. There are BNP, Jamaat, VP Nurul Haque Noor's party, Junaid Saki's party. They will hold elections in a non-partisan manner. Therefore, they will have to resign from their positions in the government and form a new political party."

Political Analyst and Jagannath University Philosophy Department Professor Dr Siddhartha Shankar Joarder said, "We all know about the King's Party. Therefore, members of this government should not form any party. And student representatives should come out of the government, if they form a political party.

Jagannath University Philosophy Department Chairman Professor Dr Mohammad Hafizul Islam said, "Forming a party from power means using power. Forming a party with government privileges is not morally acceptable. However, everyone has the right to form a party. Founders must separate from the government.

Advocate Anwar Hossain Reza, a member of the Central Secretariat of the Communist Party of Bangladesh and General Secretary of the Bangladesh Agricultural Workers' Association, commented "If student advisors want to form a political party, they must resign. If they form a political party from there, it will not be neutral. The people of the country will not accept it either. Understandably the anti-discrimination movement will go in vain".

In this regard, Dr Md Rais Uddin, General Secretary of the White Panel of Jagannath University and Chairman of the Islamic Studies Department, said, "Any individual or a group of people can support or form a political party. However, people of the country will get a wrong message if students attempt to establish a party while serving in the government. They must leave public office prior establishing a political party".

Professor Ashraf Ali Akon, a member of the presidium of the Islamic Movement of Bangladesh, responded by saying, "The students have done a historic job and have also removed fascism. And with the consent of all parties, they have formed an Interim Government. They have carried forward the spirit of the July Revolution through the people. They have taken the decision to form a party to maintain its continuity. Our party applauds the party they are trying to form. We believe that the students who are in the government will resign and join this new organization."

Mahathy Hasan Jewel, associate professor and assistant proctor of the marketing department of Jagannath University, said, "We have no problem if students form a political party. However, if they cut-off links with the Interim Government, they will be well received by the people. But if they do not, there will be many problems."

Former chairman of the management department of Jagannath University, Professor Dr Moniruzzaman, said, "Anyone can form a party. However, it is important to remember that power is not permanent. If students make mistakes, they will have to pay the price."

Jagannath University's Islamic History and Culture Department Professor Dr Md Kamal Hossain said, "If someone from the Interim Government is involved, it will be sad because the interim government should work as a neutral government. In this case, the government cannot work impartially."
