Students from City College and Ideal College, who were involved in a violent clash at the Science Lab area of Dhaka, cleared the road after one and a half hours of confrontation.

The situation turned into normal after intervention by teachers from both colleges and police officials, allowing traffic to resume on Mirpur Road and Elephant Road.
The clash erupted around 4:15 PM on Sunday, leaving several students injured. As a result, traffic on both Mirpur and Elephant Roads was halted, causing significant congestion. However, by around 5:45 PM, the situation was brought under control, and traffic began to flow normally once again.

Shipon, a student of Ideal College, explained that the altercation began when students from City College allegedly assaulted one of their classmates. Upon receiving the news, students from Ideal College went to City College to inquire about the incident. When they asked for an explanation, City College students reportedly began chasing them, leading to the clash.

On the ground, Ideal College students took shelter behind LabAid Hospital, while City College students positioned themselves on the Mirpur Road in front of their college and under the Science Lab flyover bridge.

Both groups threw bricks and stones at each other. Ideal College students also vandalized City College property, removing signboards. In retaliation, City College students chased the Ideal College students, and the clash spread throughout the area.

The confrontation led to severe traffic disruption on Mirpur and Elephant Roads, creating a major traffic jam. After nearly an hour and a half, vehicles began to move again.

Tarik Latif, Assistant Commissioner (AC) of DMP's New Market zone, stated that teachers from both colleges were present at the scene and negotiated with the students. As a result, the students were persuaded to clear the road, allowing normal traffic flow to resume.
