A celebration marking Fortune Barishals second consecutive Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) title took a chaotic turn on Sunday afternoon, leaving at least 50 people, including journalists, injured.

The event, held at Bells Park in Barishal, was meant to honor the teams victory and provide an opportunity for the fans to celebrate with their champions.

However, the festivities quickly descended into disarray when thousands of people gathered, overwhelming the security arrangements.

Eyewitnesses reported that the security preparations were inadequate to manage the large crowd. As the championship trophy, accompanied by the team members, arrived in Barishal in the afternoon, an enthusiastic crowd of supporters had gathered to catch a glimpse of the players and to celebrate the victory.

Tensions escalated when the crowd surged toward the stage as the team and club owner Mizanur Rahman made their appearance around 3:45 pm. The crowd forcefully breached the security barriers, creating a dangerous situation.

Follwing this chaos, the players and officials left the stage, taking the trophy to a safer location.

As the situation became more volatile, agitated individuals threw shoes and chairs at the stage, forcing the celebration to come to an abrupt halt.

Authorities are now investigating the incident.
