DU reviews admission test flaws

Dhaka University (DU) is investigating the allegations of inconsistencies found in the question paper of the undergraduate admission test under the Business Studies Unit for its 2024-25 academic sessions.

The university administration, in response to concerns raised by the admission seekers, assured that necessary measures are being taken and urged students not to be alarmed.

DU Business Studies Unit Admission Test Coordinator Professor Dr. Mahmood Osman Imam confirmed the matter to Daily Observer on Sunday.

On Saturday, an office notice issued by the university administration stated that the admission committee launched an urgent review of the complaints.

The matter is being handled with the utmost priority to preserve the interests of the candidates.

The intake test took place earlier that morning. Some Inconsistencies were noticed in the sequence of questions within a specific set. Additionally, four questions were repeated in some papers, leading to confusion among candidates.

Students expressed concerns about the potential impact of these inconsistencies on their results. They highlighted that the universitys evaluation system relies on Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) technology, which scans answer sheets and assesses responses based on a predetermined answer key. If the multiple-choice questions (MCQs) in a set are not in the expected order, candidates who received the flawed paper might be unfairly disadvantaged.

While the university works to resolve the issue, candidates and their guardians have been urged to remain calm as authorities take the necessary steps to address the situation.
