Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin has said, "We, who are in the commission, do not want to be involved in politics, do not want to stand for or against any political party."

"We want to remain neutral. Please support us."

He made these comments on Sunday at a programme held at the Election Commission building in Agargaon in the capital.
"All issues must be viewed in a realistic basis. One said one thing and started clapping, don't do that."

The CEC said, "We want to be nutral. "Why does we face so much criticism? You may list 100 or even 200 reasons, but to me the number one reason is the political control over the election commission. This is the main reason."

He added, "If the influence on the Election Commission is not stopped, I think the same issues will be repeated."
