Ex-Ullapara upazila chairman Mukti arrested

Former chairman of Ullapara Upazila Parishad in Sirajganj and joint general secretary of Ullapara Upazila Awami League, Selina Mirza Mukti, has been arrested.

Joint forces arrested her from her house in Mirpur, Dhaka on Saturday night and handed her over to Pallabi Police Station.

The detained Selina Mirza, daughter of freedom fighter Abdul Latif Mirza, one of the organizers of the Liberation War and director of the Palash Danga Jubo Shibir, won the post of chairman in the Upazila Parishad elections in 2024.

Dhaka's Pallabi Police Station Officer-in-Charge Nazrul Islam confirmed the arrest of Selina Mirza Mukti on Sunday. He said she is currently being held in police custody. She is accused of opposing the student movement against discrimination.
