40 detained in Gazipur as part of crackdown 'Operation Devil Hunt'

Gazipur police, in overnight drives, detained 40 leaders and activists of Awami League as part of nationwide 'Operation Devil Hunt'.

Superintendent of Gazipur police Chowdhury Mohammad Jaber Sadeq confirmed the detention around 9:30AM on Sunday (February 9).

"The detained individuals are involved in the fascist government in various activities. A total of 40 people were held till 9AM on the first day of the crackdown," the police official said.
Gazipur Metropolitan Police, Bangladesh Army, RAB and other law enforcement agencies jointly conducted the Operation Devil Hunt whole night on Saturday.

The government launched the nationwide operation following a violent attack on students and locals in the district on Friday night.
