At least eight people, including proctor Dr Amjad Hossain, sustained injuries during a clash between two groups at Jashore University of Science and Technology (JUST) on Friday night.
Local sources informed that there had been prevailing tense situation for the last two days at the campus over committee which will be announced by the Student Against Discrimination.
Around 9:30PM on Friday, an altercation took place between some members of Student Against Discrimination and students of Computer Science and Engineering (CEC) at a tea stall over the committee issue. Both the group later went to the proctor's office.
Suddenly, they locked into a clash, both started throwing brick bats inside the campus, leaving the proctor and seven others injured.
With the help of law enforcement agencies, the situation became calm.
Additional police force have been deployed around the campus.
