NATORE, Feb 7: The Detective Branch (DB) of Natore Police arrested seven members of a transformer theft gang and seized a pick-up van during a routine check at Bonbelghoria Bypass Road in the town on Thursday.
Superintendent of Police Marufat Hossain confirmed the matter to the local journalists in his office room.
The arrested persons are identified as Mahatab Mridha (27) of Pabna, Mobarak Hossain (24), pick-up van Liton (45), Altaf Mridha (30) of Chatmohor, Pabna, Helal (28) of Pabna Sadar, Hafizur Rahaman (27) of Sirajganj, and Jamir Hossain (36) of Gazipur District.
During checking, police recovered seven set copper coil of electric transformer, One yellow coloured cutter, one plastic pipe, two iron rod, rope and wire from the pick-up and later seized the pick-up.
Marufat Hossain informed that on information, police set a check-post on by-pass road. At one time a blue coloured pick-up was crossing the check-post. Police stopped the pick-up and searched it. The pick-up was going towards Dhaka from Rajshahi.
After checking police recovered various stealing materials from the pick-up and arrested the seven persons including the pick-up driver while three others managed to escape at the time of searching.
In this connection, a case has been registered with police station, and the accused were sent to the prison house through a court after the interrogation.
