Youth commits suicide after losing gambling in Natore

A youth died while undergoing treatment after consuming poison at Singra upazila in Natore district on Friday.

The deceased was identified as Shanto Sakider,19, son of Montu Sakider, a resident of Dahia village in the upazila. He was an auto van driver by profession.

According to local sources, Shanto was addicted to mobile gambling for a long time. After losing in a gambling, he demanded money from his family members. He tried to commit suicide by consuming poison after his family refused to give him money on January 28.

Later, his relatives rescued him and admitted him to the Upazila Health Complex. But, he transferred to Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital (RMCH) for better treatment. He died there while undergoing treatment on Friday.

Singra Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Asmaul Haque said that legal action would be taken after getting the autopsy report.
